The MaxPACS is a robust, scalable and cost-effective Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Its main task is to provide reliable and fast storage and management of digital images, patient data and examination information generated in different imaging systems (CT, MRI, CR, DR, UH etc.) of health care facilities. This web-based system with a robust database engine is connected to the imaging modalities via standard DICOM interface, and to the hospital information system (HIS) via standard HL7 interface. Its viewing and diagnostic workstations as well as its telemedicine module help the work of diagnosticians and specialists with a wide range of image processing operations.
The main advantage of MaxPACS is the modular design, allowing to install the system in any size and service level. It is ideally scalable to meet the different customer needs, from the smallest private medical practice, through complete hospital and clinical service, up to the integrated regional PACS network of several institutions, to offersing the ideal solution for all applications.
The heart of the MaxPACS system is the highly reliable central database- and image server module. Its fast and high-capacity redundant hard disk storage array, with automatic scheduled backup function, ensures extremely fail-safe operation and quick access to stored images and data. The robust software controls and optimizes information flow, collects and stores images, and shares them with connected system components (diagnostic workstations, viewers, printers). Every connection and event are logged and time-stepped.
The server is connected to the HIS via standard HL7 protocol, to receive examination requests, patient and study information. To send worklist and receive images and reports the server is connected to the various digital imaging modalities (CT, MRI, CR, DR, UH etc.), diagnostic and viewing workstations, and the different DICOM printer and patient CD R/W units via standard DICOM protocols.
The image evaluation in the MaxPACS system can be processed on local or remote diagnostic workstations. These all are provided with powerful computers, high resolution color or monochrome diagnostic monitors, and special image viewing and processing software modules to guarantee ideal diagnostic conditions and fast workflow. This task, besides the usual image processing functions, is supported by the most advanced 3D image reconstruction and image fusion software modules.
Medical reporting is possible to the PACS system, or directly to the HIS system.
Image viewer workstations of the MaxPACS system display images and related data for non-diagnostic purposes in the co-departments within the institution and in endpoints outside the institution. Due to the web-based structure and modern design, this service is available not only on installed dedicated workstations but on mobile laptops, tablets or even smart-phones as well.
In the MaxPACS system, for providing patients with the acquired digital images and medical records, there are different DICOM image printers and patient CD R/W workstations.
