The Max-X DR Dexa is a whole body bone densitometer, developed to measure bone mineral density alongside body composition and various assessments. It is an ideal choice for both clinical diagnostical and screening applications as well. Patients lie still on a table while the machine arm passes over their entire body. Technicians can get information of BMD, lean body mass and fat mass for the whole body and individual regions. It enables to identify patients at risk for osteoporosis and other debilitating conditions. The extremely low table height and the very short scanning time results high patient comfort and high patient throughput. Thanks to the latest fan-beam technology applied, the patient dose is very low while image quality is outstanding and very stable.
The touch screen operator console of the system ensures easy and quick operation. Based on the acquired data the software can support a wide range of standard measurements, statistics and reports.
The patient table of the Max-X DR Dexa system is an ergonomically designed plastic bed with rolling wheels. The large sized table top with soft laying surface is one of the lowest height unit on the market, makes the usage of it safety and comfortable even for disabled patients.
The precise railing of the scanner C-arm is located under the table. The C-arm holds the main imaging elements (X-ray generator, X-ray tube, detector array), and the motor mechanics. The positioning of the C-arm can be controlled from the controller surface located on top of the arm, or from the central touch screen controle console as well.
In the Max-X DR Dexa system, X-ray is provided by a modern, microprocessor controlled, high frequency X-ray generator and its associated fine focus X-ray tube. The generated fan-beam geometry is ideal for rapid and precise imaging of the whole body.
The heart of the Max-X DR Dexa system is the high sensitive and high resolution multi-element direct digital detector array, capable of creating high quality fine X-ray images with very low patient dose. The system recalibrates the detector during every scan passes to ensure the most accurate and precise measurement time-to-time.
The images are created on the principle called Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). During the measurement, two X-ray beams with different energy levels are used to create two images on the detector array. The difference between these two images will determine bone mineral density (BMD).
The Max-X DR Dexa system is controlled from a large touch screen console. All functions are accessible here: waiting list handling, patient administration, study selection, C-arm motion control. It displays the composed image after scanning, creates the requested standard measurements, statistics and reports, and when the operator checked, they can be sent to the connected PACS for storage and processing (printing, archiving etc). In automatic mode the system sets all system-parameters according to the selected examination protocol (X-ray-, movement- and image acquisition parameters). The built-in software supports a wide range of image post-processing and measurement/statistic functions. The ergonomic design and large icons ensure reliable control in any environment.
In case of stand-alone installation or temporary connection error to the HIS/PACS system, local patient administration, study selection, reporting and printing are available as well.
