Max-X DR Pulmo is a modern, high-throughput digital chest screening system, based on the latest flat panel detector technology, designed primarily for busy screening stations. Its patient-cabin is radiation protected, mounted with motorized patient lift, 43x43 cm large area flat panel detector, and built-in HF X-ray generator. The touch screen panel mounted on the sidewall of the cabin functions as control of patient administration, image acquisition, image processing and generator functions as well. The system is connected to the hospital PACS network as a standard DICOM modality.
When designing, the main concerns were high image quality, high patient throughput, easy usage and low cost operation. Thanks to the fine rolling sliding doors and optimized system design, the patient positioning and imaging is quick and easy.
All technical components of the Max-X DR Pulmo system (HF generator, tube, collimator, DR detector) is integrated into a compact, radiation protected cabin. The high sensitivity image detector is placed inside the front part of the cabin, while the X-ray tube and the generator are in the back. The large size of the cabin ensures the more than 180 cm focus-detector distance, ideal for chest exposures. The fast and accurate positioning of the patients is provided by the built-in, soft starting, motorized patient lift. The simultaneously working sliding doors on both sides of the cabin - with large size lead glass windows - guarantee quick and optimal patient changing. The walls of the cabin are covered with 1 mm thick lead layer, so it is not necessary to supply the whole examination room with protection (cost saving room design). This way the staff can work right next to the cabin. This greatly simplifies and speeds up the workflow, increasing system throughput.
The heart of the Max-X DR Pulmo system is the 43x43 cm high resolution amorphous-Silicon digital flat panel detector, capable of creating high quality fine X-ray images with very low patient dosage. The detector connection to the controller PC is Gigabit Ethernet interface. The image appears on the touch screen monitor within 6 sec after exposure.
In the Max-X DR Pulmo system, X-ray is provided by a modern, microprocessor controlled, high frequency X-ray generator and its associated rotating anode fine focus X-ray tube. The generator control is integrated to the common touch screen control panel of the system. Optimal image quality is guaranteed by the built-in AEC dose control. The supervisor program monitors the system status and any operator intervention all the time - thus effectively preventing any setting or events that could cause damage or overload to the system.
The Max-X DR Pulmo system is controlled from a large, integrated touch screen console, placed on the sidewall of the cabin, right next to the sliding door. All functions are accessible here: waiting list handling, patient administration, study selection, generator control. It displays the preview image after exposure, and when the operator checked, it can be sent to the connected PACS for storage and processing (evaluation, printing, archiving etc). The built-in software performs automatic image optimization, but wide range of manual image post-processing functions are available as well. The ergonomic design and large icons ensure reliable control in any environment.
